The Foundry Art Centre is thrilled to announce two new solo exhibitions, both exploring the power, importance, and symbolism of handcrafted art.
Zack Smithey is a St. Charles, Missouri-based, interdisciplinary artist known for his innovative and ever-evolving approach to art-making. He blends technical mastery with conceptual depth across a wide range of media. In his first exhibition in over ten years, a conscious pause from commercial and client enterprises, I’m Not a Robot: A Reaction to AI, Smithey explores what it truly means to be uniquely human in an age of emerging artificial intelligence.
Greta Coalier’s mixed media artistic practice operates at the intersection of memory, material, and contemporary femininity. Her exhibition, Soft Armor, transforms domestic materials into vessels of protection, resilience, and resistance – building armor from thread, softness from structure, and presence from what is often overlooked. Coalier lives and works in St. Louis.
Celebrate the opening of these exhibitions on Friday, August 1st, from 5-8pm, during our First Friday event. Enjoy live music, family-friendly art activities, and refreshments from the Foundry bar.
I’m Not a Robot: A Reaction to AI by Zack Smithey and Soft Armor by Greta Coalier will be on view through September 20th.
