LBDAHS Pop In Session

COME AND JOIN US ON SATURDAY IN LEIGHTON BUZZARD HIGH STREET for our first LBDAHS 'POP IN' session between 11am and 2pm at the new CultureCo:LB space (formally Wilkos).

Oodles of local history to discover - from Leighton House, the impressive home of Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild while he was building Waddesdon Manor that once stood on the Wilkos site, to the secret role of LB and Q Central during WW2, to Old Linslade's medieval Holy Well excavations, to the fascinating history and renovation of the iconic 15th Century Market Cross and its patron, Alice Chaucer, Lady of the Manor in the 1400s and granddaughter of medieval writer Geoffrey Chaucer. Plus lots more!

LBDAHS members will also be there to talk to you about any local history topics, places, or time periods you're interested in, to hear your own stories and memories, to answer any questions (if we can!), and to assess any artefacts or treasures you may have found, dug up, or inherited from across the town and surrounding villages.

It's a great opportunity to learn more and engage with the town's fascinating long and rich heritage. Everyone welcome. Tell your friends and family too.

Also in the space on Saturday will be a special interactive large-scale weaving workshop, Dream Weaving, hosted by textile artist Sara Snowden.

And if you, or anyone you know, is a big LEGO fan, pop in the following day on Sunday for a huge LEGO Festival between 11am and 3pm. The Festival features F1 LEGO cars, spaceships, interactive LEGO art, impressive displays, hands-on creative LEGO building, and more. Tickets available on the door. More details on the CultureCo:LB Facebook page. LBDAHS will be there too, so walk over and say hello.

LBDAHS is proud to support CultureCo:LB in making this unused High Street space a temporary focus for local culture, arts, and heritage over the summer.
