Breast Services in Northern Ireland have been under significant pressure for some time.
To address this, the Department of Health has initiated a programme of work, ‘Reshaping Breast Services in Northern Ireland’.
This project has recently established a single, regional booking system for patients who a GP suspects may have breast cancer.
This project now aims to review the breast cancer pathway and identify key areas to provide a more equitable and sustainable service for everyone in Northern Ireland.
This review will focus on (but not be limited to) assessment, surgery, treatment, aftercare, workforce, and infrastructure.
To inform this review, we are seeking to engage as widely as possible with people who have lived experience of breast services in Northern Ireland.
