Good Trouble Lives On: A Protest in the Spirit of John Lewis

Please join us! In honor of the passing of John Lewis and the movement he helped sustain and elevate, we will be gathering this Thursday at the Jefferson County Courthouse, at the corner of Main and Jefferson to continue that work.

Recognizing that freedom is a constant struggle, in the words of Angela Davis, we will stand for democracy and civil rights in a non-violent exercise of our First Amendment Rights. Current issues you may wish to advocate for include: an end to ICE raids, a restoration of rights for LGBTQ+ folx, particularly our trans siblings, a focus on funding education not genocide, and other civil and human rights under attack by our current administration.

You are welcome to make and bring your own signs to personalize your message. The Democratic Headquarters will be open starting at 10:30am, where they will have bottled water, light snacks, signs, and sign-making supplies. Bathrooms will also be available.

A reminder to protesters to yield the sidewalk to all pedestrians and stay safe and out of the roadway.

Sponsored by and co-organized with the Democratic Party of Jefferson County, Indiana. See you there!
