Green Drinks Summer Edition:
Make your company more sustainable, whatever your job title

Location: Museum Cafe 8, Central Pier 8

When: Thursday July 24th, Networking @ 6.30pm , Talk beings @ 7pm

About the topic:
Being passionate about sustainability in the workplace can be frustrating when most colleagues (especially decision makers!) don’t share your enthusiasm. In this talk, Basel Kirmani shares practical strategies to influence company culture and make sustainability part of everyone’s role, regardless of job title.

Drawing on his experience founding an employee sustainability group at Manulife and leading Turquoise Sustainability, Basel will offer real-world techniques for getting colleagues onboard, building momentum from the ground up, and integrating sustainable practices into everyday operations.

You’ll discover how small actions, persistent advocacy, and tailored communication can make climate action and sustainable thinking natural, valued parts of your workplace. This talk gives anyone - no matter their role - the confidence and skills to influence sustainability in their organisation.

Speaker Bio: After having been a chemistry teacher and then a corporate drone for 16 years, Basel Kirmani found his calling while at Manulife by founding an Employee Resource Group to teach his colleagues about sustainability. He then founded Turquoise Sustainability to help corporations in HK incorporate sustainability into their corporate culture. ( https://www.turquoise-sustainability.com/about)

He holds a masters degree in chemistry from the University of Cambridge, a big moustache, and a range of sustainability credentials, including the Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA), GRI Certified Professional, IFRS FSA; he is a Climate Fresk facilitator and a Carbon Literacy Project facilitator.

Kind reminder that we ask all participants to buy at least 1 drink to support our host venue Cafe 8, and if possible to donate HK$100 to support Nesbitt Centre, one of Hong Kong's leading charities collaborating with HK Maritime Museum to run Cafe 8.
