Film: "The CZU Fire In Their Own Words"

This moving and powerful film will be screened to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the CZU fire. Actors use the words of people who fought the fires and those who lost their homes, speaking about evacuating, losing homes and possessions, battling with insurance companies, and getting community support. Photos and videos from the families and local photographers are woven in. The film was created and directed by Peter Gelblum and produced by Mountain Community Theater. The director and others associated with the film will be there to answer questions. See a trailer here.

There will also be a CZU Fire Community Memory Table (please feel free to bring a picture or item to contribute).

Presenter Bio:

Community-led Learning volunteer Peter Gelblum is a retired attorney, Chair of the local Chapter of the ACLU of Northern California, and an actor and director, primarily with Mountain Community Theater in Ben Lomond, where he was President for five years. He was forced to evacuate his Boulder Creek home during the 2020 CZU Fires. Although his home was spared, he knew many people who lost their homes, and made this film to honor them and the people who courageously fought the fire.
