Join Fort Selden Historic Site in a partnership with Las Cruces Public Libraries for Read with a Ranger on Wed., July 30, 4 - 5 p.m. A ranger from Fort Selden will be at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library to read the book, "Papagayo-The Mischief Maker" by Gerald McDermott. The book tells the story of a mischievous parrot, Papagayo, who spends his days playing in the jungle and disturbing the sleeping night creatures with his raucous cries. When the ferocious moon-dog begins to devour the moon, only Papagayo knows how to save it. The night creatures learn that heβs a good friend to have, even if heβs noisy.
After the story participants can make sun and moon catchers to take home. This program is free and suitable for school-aged children kindergarten through fifth grade. Read with a Ranger takes place in the craft room of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
