Water Books Workshop Walk-In

Inspired by Oscar Tuazon’s Salt Lake Water School, this drop-in workshop invites you to create an accordion-style artist book. Led by Nakita Shelley, participants will use saltwater-based pigments to dye paper in wave-like patterns, add translucent covers, and work with imagery of The Great Salt Lake.
Each book will be a personal exploration—shaped by your experiences, thoughts, and creative choices. You’ll have the opportunity to include quotes that reflect your relationship with the lake and your own memories, writing, or poetry.
All materials and imagery will be provided, but feel free to bring anything additional—like photos, drawings, or small items—that you’d like to include to make your book uniquely yours.
Oscar Tuazon’s Salt Lake Water School is made possible by generous support from Wake the Great Salt Lake, Salt Lake City Arts Council, Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office, Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Public Art Challenge, Powder Art Foundation, Salt Lake County Arts & Culture, Emerson Collective, Courtesy of Luhring Augustine
