The Euphemists with Gwen Rousseau

The Euphemists, from Portland, are different. Alan Snyder plays fiddle and Dave Goldman is on keyboard, and then we have horns! That’s Greg Martin on tenor sax (and whistle), Stephanie Shea on alto sax, and Kaye Blesener on trombone. A whole lot of music. The repertoire includes Celtic, Québécois, and Old Time tunes as well as jazz riffs, ragtime rhythms, klezmer, and a Sousa march.

Your caller is Gwen Rousseau, with her wonderful personality and stage presence. If you are new to contra dancing, be there at 3:00 for the workshop. This is the best way to learn contra dancing. The experienced dancers join in the workshop, and are very welcoming to newcomers. By 3:30, you will know the basics and be ready to dance until 6:00, with an intermission along the way.

Admission is $15 - $30—please pay what you can afford. An average of about $19 per dancer allows us to cover the costs for rent, sound, band, and caller.

The dance has moved locations to Normanna Hall, 1106 South 15th St., Tacoma.
