Slow Roll Week 10: Gordon Park

We're in the heart of summer now, and the rides don't stop.
Next week we roll out from Gordon Park. Set on the lakeshore on the city's eastern stretches, Gordon Park is one of the oldest parks in the city and is currently undergoing a comprehensive longterm improvement plan under the guidance of Metroparks, who entered into a 99-year lease with the city in 2013. Major construction on the site is expected to begin this year, so this may be your last chance to see the park in the state it's mostly been in for the last few decades and following the closure of the Cleveland Aquarium on the site (the abandoned structure is still standing today in the park) in 1986.
We'll meet up in the west side parking lot off of E. 72nd Street at 7 PM, and as usual, we'll have our tent up by 6 PM for shirt sales and registration help.
If we're lucky, we'll have a pretty nice sunset to gawk about during the homestretch of the ride along the lake.
Once again we remind our riders to perform a simple ABC Bike Check before heading out to join us for a ride:
Air: Be sure you have enough air in your tires
Brakes: Look to see that your brake pads are not worn
Chain and Cranks: Pull on your cranks to see that they are not loose and look to see that the chain is not rusted and it is free of gunk
Quick Release: Make sure all quick releases are closed
Check: Take a slow brief ride to check that your bike is working properly
If any of these points fail inspection, please take your bike to a local bike shop for help. We cannot perform repairs on your bike for you before a ride, and if you knowingly ride with a broken bike, you will slow down the fun for everyone.
