The Lubbock County Historical Commission invites the public to attend the Texas Historical Marker Unveiling at the Slaton Harvey House, 400 Railroad Avenue. The event will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2005.
Built in 1912, the Slaton Harvey House served as an eating place for Santa Fe Railroad passengers until 1942. Saved from the wrecking ball in 1989, it was refurbished as a museum and B&B by the Slaton Railroad Association. The Harvey House became the 40th Texas Historic Site in October 2024. A Texas Historic Marker was erected in 2007; however, the original marker was vandalized, and a replacement marker will be unveiled. A reception and tour of the Slaton Harvey House will follow.
