In this 75 minute class, you’ll learn how to make bubbly beverages from scratch using simple ingredients you may already have in your kitchen. We'll cover what equipment you might need and discuss the proper procedures and recipes to make natural sodas. You'll take home two bottles of soda ready to ferment at home including Jamaica, made from dried red hibiscus flowers, and Lemon Balm. We'll discuss how to grow and maintain your own culture, known as a ginger bug, and you will leave class with your own so you can continue to make endless sodas at home.

Age: 16+ or 12+ with guardian.

Alegre has been kitchen witching her whole life and has been playing with ferments for years since her son was small and developed a love for pickled things. The journey began with pickled veggies (e.g., kimchi, sauerkraut) and of course, pickled cucumbers, and eventually led Alegre to incorporating hibiscus cooler and teas she drinks daily into the fermentation process. When she’s not in the kitchen fermenting, baking, or making herbal concoctions, you can find her doing bodywork or playing in the garden.
