Join local historian, author and former teacher at Rugeley Fair Oak School and the Aelfgar 6th form centre, Steve Booth for a fascinating presentation about the infamous William Palmer, the poisoner.
Steve’s talk looks especially at Palmer’s local links and at the way he was ruined by his mother, Sarah. It looks at all the murders and possible murders, at William’s betting fixation, at his complete lack of family loyalty and at the way in which he was caught out when he murdered his racing ‘friend’ after his friend won the Shrewsbury cup. It looks at his trial and his public execution in Stafford in front of a massive crowd, many of whom had hiked from Rugeley.
Tuesday 14th October
2:00pm-3:00pm with time for a Q&A afterwards.
£2.00 per person
Refreshments will be available.
