Over the course of 4 weeks, artists Quim Bigas Bassart, Olivia Rivière, and Søren Linding Urup work SIDE BY SIDE in the same studio. With a FOCUS on their individual investigations, they also make space for cross-pollination and INSPIRATION through one another’s practices.
HANGING OUT AND TUNING IN. During the residency, Quim Bigas Bassart will spend time with different strands of thought and physical investigation. And make space for the confusion that is currently present in his mind.
Bigas often works with the idea of hanging out as a guideline in his work: being with things and hanging out. In that awareness, he wants to add a layer around the concept of ‘tuning’ to further explore different modes in the correspondence between people and dance.
Bigas is curious about what kind of correspondence he can have with HAUT and how daily life here can open up possible movements and activations. How being in residency here can open up possibilities, potentials, projections and new or revisited longings.
RINGING(SHHH). Olivia Riviére will base her work on her last work Untitled (The Ringing), which she shared just before the summer as part of Exerce, MA in Choreography, in Montpellier.
Riviére will delve into the inherent social and relational aspects of the sonic sphere - the spatial state (atmosphere) of consciousness derived from acoustic sensitivity and listening. She plays with the idea of dissonance - which musically speaking is when two notes are closer together than those in harmony, resulting in increased vibration and resonance. She will explore this through distorted field recordings, live sound systems and with evocative/somatic listening practices.
Olivia will collaborate with choreographer Lisen Pousette in parts of the process - exploring the idea of resonance through extended vocal techniques.
TO PATH TO PATH TO PATH. Søren Linding Urup will explore three areas of practice that have always been present and yet elusive in his working life. He will indulge in the activity of finding, activating and switching between them. He will encounter the existing paths of knowledge and practice, allowing time, space and trust to follow potential new directions that emerge. Dare to see and appreciate them.
Follow a facilitative (perhaps co-creative) practice that has always seemed unfinished and unfulfilled, even if it was exciting.
Follow a lingering sense of a dance. Something that keeps returning to; sets of movements, bits of music, feelings of ‘this is!’
Following a collaborative practice with musician Ivar Myrset Asheim - delving into details of sound and choreographic presence in their work together.
THE ARTISTS
Three artists, three practices. Differences that create opportunities for porous exchanges and moments of cross-pollination.
TICKETS
Participation is free, but please reserve your ticket as seating is limited.
THE RESIDENCY
This WORKSHARING is the culmination of 3 artists' 4-week IN DEPTH residency.
IN DEPTH is HAUT's 4-week residency that gives experienced performing artists time to immerse themselves in their own artistic practice.
