Celebrating Sambuddhananda (Sambuddh) Saraswati

We will be celebrating and remembering the wonderful Sambuddh one year on from her passing (08/08/2024) through mantra, kirtan and singing, dancing and sharing some indian and vegetarian food together.

PLEASE BRING
* A plate of vegetarian food to share.
* A cushion and yoga mat for kirtan and havan.
* Wear warm clothing. The havan with mantra will be outside in the back courtyard and kirtan in the hall.

PROGRAM:

5PM
DOORS OPEN
Music, mingling and socialising in the hall and on the verandah.
Nibbles.

5:30-6:10pm
HAVAN WITH MAHAMRITYANJAYA MANTRA
Outside in the courtyard behind the hall.

Havan (or hawan or agnihotra) is a traditional spiritual practice and vedic fire ceremony in yoga where offerings (rice and spices called samagri) are made into the fire in a copper kund (small metal container) after each round of the mantra is chanted. Everyone is welcomed to participate.

Some plastic chairs will be provided.
Bring your cushion and yoga mat.

6:15-7pm
KIRTAN IN THE HALL

Kirtan songs lead by local kirtan walas (people) with some of Sambuddh's favourites that are uplifting, joyful, energising and calming. Accompanied by traditional indian instruments such as the harmonium and drums with call and response singing.
Everyone is encouraged to participate and welcome to listen or sing and relax.

7-8pm
VEGETARIAN FEAST (please bring plate of food to share)

Share in vegetarian food and share in stories remembering and celebrating Sambuddh.

8-9pm
CONNECTING & CELEBRATING
Opportunities for singing, music, dance, connecting with community and celebrating Sambuddh.

Please reach out if you would like to sing something, lead a dance or be creative in another artform or say a few words to celebrate Sambuddh.
