Metta Bhavana: The Practice of Loving-Kindness
Every Monday • Donation-Based
Discover the transformative power of loving-kindness meditation
Join us each Monday for metta bhavana, the ancient Buddhist practice of cultivating unconditional love and compassion. In our busy, often disconnected world, this gentle yet profound meditation offers a path to inner peace and genuine connection with ourselves and others.
What makes metta bhavana special?
While the historical Buddha taught many hundreds of meditation techniques, he identified only two as absolutely necessary for liberation from suffering: vipassana (insight meditation) and metta (loving-kindness). This speaks to the fundamental importance of cultivating love and compassion alongside wisdom on the spiritual path.
In these sessions, you'll learn to:
Develop genuine warmth and kindness toward yourself
Extend loving-kindness to loved ones, neutral people, and even difficult relationships
Work with anger, resentment, and judgment with compassion
Create a foundation of emotional wellbeing that supports all areas of life
Experience the profound peace that comes from an open heart
Open to all levels - whether you're new to meditation or have an established practice. Each session includes gentle guidance, periods of silent practice, and time for questions and sharing.
When: Every Monday, 9.00am
Where: Tantraya Meditation Hall
Investment: Donation-based - give what feels right for you
Come as you are. All hearts welcome. No animals please
