Join us for a presentation about bridging the gap of (mis)understanding the differences between Spiritual vs. Spiritualism. The focus is on spiritualism from the Victorian era to - today.
Spiritualism emerged during the Victorian era (1837-1901) and became quite popular. During this time, spiritualism gained popularity as a form of entertainment and comfort for those mourning loved ones.
Seances, table turning, and automatic writing became common practices for individuals seeking to connect with the spirit world. Spirituality is a deeply personal journey, whereas spiritualism often involves specific beliefs, practices and communities centered around the idea that there is a connection between the living and the dead.
Cost $10 for general admission; $2.50 for GHVM members (please show your membership card). **There are 2 options for you to choose from if you pre-register. Otherwise, you can pay upon arrival.
Note: The presentation will be followed by a guided tour of the museum.
