Join us for free family friendly activities from 10am to Noon in the Children's Discovery Garden at Robert A Lee Recreation Center! Engaged Early Education's Tales of Summer series includes a host of fun, hands-on activities for drop in fun and a quick storytime portion at 10:30am that is optional. On July 26, we will be in the community garden space at Robert A. Lee Rec Center on the corner of College St. and Gilbert St. We will be joined by Field to Family, who will have even more activities for us to enjoy!
All events are open to all families and children of all abilities. We have noise blocking headphones and calming activities always available as needed at our events. Activities are geared largely towards children between 3 years old and 10 years old, but we find that everyone has fun when they take a minute to get down and play!
What can you stop in and enjoy from 10am-12pm?
- Community Garden exploration tours: take home some herbs and other crops that are ready!
- Seed planting station
- Local Foods taste testing
- Garden Scavenger Hunt
- Create pretend play food for outside or mud kitchens
.... and more!
Optional storytime around 10:30am will feature 2 books on gardening and growing food and a few fun, engaging songs.
You can also take home the "Happy in the Garden" Learning Kit from Engaged Early Education. This free learning kit is available while supplies last - head to www.engagedearlyeducation/events to RSVP and have a kit held for your child to guarantee pick up will be available. These kits have:
