Join us for a Granola Mennonite and Midlife Calculus reading and conversation at Sunnyside Mennonite Church.
You are warmly invited to a writers' night with Kirsten Eve Beachy (Martyrs and Chickens: Confessions of a Granola Mennonite, memoir, 2025) and Britt Kaufmann (Midlife Calculus, poems, 2024). Kirsten was raised on martyr stories and the More-with-Less cookbook; Britt learned calculus at age 47, and her poems blend teaching and learning, math and poetry, aging and new adventure. Clarinetist/composer Rachel Yoder will open the event with her new improvisation piece, “Paper Woman,” and join the conversation on the mysteries, mathematics, and messiness of midlife, teaching, caregiving, and creating. Fables Books will sell the authors’ books at the event, and the music will also be available for purchase. Q & A and signing to follow.
