The World Premiere of "DEAR GOD" written by Lisa Langford

Dear God by Lisa Langford is a daring and dynamic play that examines faith, identity, and humanity in a world turned upside down. When aliens land on Earth, Pastor Vonnie Braxton faces a moral crossroads: should her gospel of love extend to beings from another planet, or will humanity’s fear and prejudice prevail? Set against the backdrop of a Black church, the play delves into themes of race, religion, and relationships, including Vonnie’s polyamorous past. With humor, powerful sermons, and poignant moments, Dear God challenges audiences to rethink love, acceptance, and what it means to be truly united.
Dear God features Donna Marie (Vonnie) Chesney Goodson (James, Mrs. Baker, Aisha) and Lupé Perez (Deacon), and is directed by Stephanie Hickling Beckman. Photography by Shelby Taylor Design.
