In(SITE): Give the Drummer Some... More!

Join Charlotte Street for an exciting one-night-only free In(SITE) program celebrating Kansas City’s vibrant percussion scene, curated by Patrick Alexander and Brandon Draper, continuing last summer’s exploration of local drumming history and styles. The event will showcase talented percussionists through dynamic “hand to skin” drum ensembles led by renowned Kansas City percussionist Bird Fleming, who will also be honored for his contributions to preserving traditional rhythms. Attendees can enjoy diverse percussive sounds from West Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America, performed by local musicians, highlighting the city’s rich multicultural musical heritage.

Drummers set to participate include Doug Auwarter, Nick Baker, Sean Branigan, Pat Conway, Xavier Fleming, Candice Hill, Simon Huntley, DJ Malabre, Lisa McKenzie, Miko Spears, and Allan Winkler.

In(SITE) is a multidisciplinary performance series curated by Patrick Alexander that highlights local,regional, and national acts at pivotal points in their practices. Each performance showcases contemporary works that push boundaries, take risks, and demonstrate excellence in performing arts.
