“School was never a place for me to express my culture—it was a place where I felt uncomfortable doing so.” – Naira Akhtar, Idaho student and speaker for the International Rescue Committee
Too many students know what this feels like. Classrooms should spark curiosity and celebrate who we are, but for some, school becomes a space where difference leads to isolation, and fitting in means hiding parts of yourself.
Still, students across Idaho are standing tall. They’re sharing stories, building community, and reimagining what school could be.
On August 6, you’re invited to hear directly from them.
⭐ 6:30–8:00 PM
⭐ Wassmuth Center for Human Rights
⭐ Free to attend, but registration is required: wassmuthcenter.org/speakers-at-the-center
This youth-led panel will center student voices and lived experiences. It’s a conversation worth hearing, and one you won’t forget.
