In partnership with the Eastern Counties Regional Library – Petit de Grat Branch, Recreation Summer staff is offering a two-day summer camp for kids aged 5 – 12 focused on gardening, food systems, and environmental care.
Day 1 – “Grow to Know”: Introduces kids to how plants grow, the role of pollinators, and why food security matters. Activities include planting herbs, composting, garden games, and eco-crafts. Campers will also conduct simple science experiments and explore a pop-up garden.
Day 2 – “Roots and Resilience”: Features a visit from a local gardening expert and deeper exploration of soil health, composting, and community gardens. Kids will research using the library’s resources, build compost jars, and take part in a seed library scavenger hunt.
