Gloomie live at The Midnight Special ft/ Stream Lea!!!
!! This is a FREE event !!
Gloomie has spent the past few years turning the trials of life into a sonic diary, capturing both its challenges and hard-earned lessons. Her latest single, “Mid December,” is the third release from her upcoming debut album, showcasing her signature mix of nostalgic, downbeat songwriting, fuzzy distorted guitars, and lush harmonies and soundscapes.
She’s road-tested this material on festival stages, including Parramatta Lanes, Port Kembla Fest, Great Southern Nights, and King Street Crawl, where she supported Melbourne’s hallowed wildcard act Tropical Fuck Storm. Writing for Junkee, David James Young described her set:
“reeling in attendees with shimmering minor-key slow-dances and lyrics that tug and tear at the heartstrings.”
A sought-after support act, she has played alongside Fazerdaze, Eliza & The Delusionals, The Slingers and Egoism as Gloomie as well as Julia Jacklin fronted Phantastic Pherniture and The Buoys in other bands.
Her 2022 track, “Say It To My Face”, saw her win a Triple J Unearthed competition, earning her a Rage Premiere for a music video produced by NIDA film students. Added to the list, she was named FBi’s Independent Artist of the Week around the release and selected for Live From The Lab, a program in collaboration with the University of Sydney and FBi Radio. The track continues to bubble, with spins on Triple J and FBi Radio, where she has a steady stream of support for her recent releases. You might also recognise her voice from "I've Been Feeling Something Lately", a song released with her previous band Goodside, which landed a spot on the hit Netflix series Never Have I Ever.
Ever filling the pages of her sonic diary, this year will see Gloomie tear out a chapter for us to digest: honest, raw, and more compelling than ever.
