Jim Carpenter is a writer, songwriter, musician, and music producer residing on the southeastern shore of Connecticut. “Carpenter’s songs reflect his Southern upbringing, the Southern literacy tradition, and a decided sense of melodic narrative style and humor that recalls Townes Van Zandt, Robert Earl Keen, John Prine, and Mark Cohen” (Rick Koster, "New London Day").
Born on Chincoteague Island, Virginia, he has lived in Norfolk, Cape May, Key West, Miami and Nashville. He currently makes his home in the Village of Niantic, where he writes, records, and tours with "The CarLeans," "The Hoolios," and "Southern Fiction."
His work "Forsaken, Florida" (released in March 2023) is his fourth collection of short fiction--a series which includes "Box Of Sin," "Jubilee," and "Oyster"--to be released Jim’s stories have appeared in various magazines and are mirrored in song among twelve albums of original music recorded and published by his record company, "LOCO DARE Music."
