Manasquan River - Stockton Lake - Harpoon Willy's - Allenwood Allaire Paddle

OVERVIEW:

Come join me for an 8.2-mile paddle from the Manasquan Glimmer glass to the Allenwood Allaire Conservation area stopping for a quick rest at Treasure Island and lunch at Harpoon Willys, Manasquan.

THIS IS LARGE WATER EVENT WITH BOAT AND WATERCRAFT TRAFFIC.

TOURING / SEA KAYAKS ONLY.

ARRIVAL:

Please arrive at Stockton Lake, Manasquan north-end baseball fields at 7:30 am and unload quickly. There is limited parking, but there is a nice loading zone/beach we can stage at.

We will shuttle cars to Allenwood Allaire and UBER back to Manasquan from 8:00 to 9:00 am.

The pre-trip meeting is at 9:00'

DETAILS

We leave from Stockton Lake at 9:15 am, proceeds through the glimmer glass boat channel, under the very old lift bridge and into the channel where we wait for the NJ Transit Bridge to lower for one of three safe crossing between 9:45 and 11:15 am.

We proceed north then southwest around gull island and through two bridges – NJT and Rte. 35 before moving east against the spans toward Manasquan. This is the most dangerous part of the trip and will group up in the cove before proceeding.

After passing the bridge we cross back into Manasquan/Brielle at the 35 bridge and head west / southwest towards Osbourne / Treasure Island for a 30-minute break.

Next, we paddle 1.2 mile past the RTE 70 bridge to Harpoon Willys for lunch on the patio.

After our fill, we continue past Sterling Woods into Manasquan Shores and into the back waters of the Manasquan finishing up the paddle at the Allenwood Wildlife Preserve.

Plan on being off the water between 3:30 and 3:45 pm.

Debriefing at 4:00 pm

KAYAK REQUIREMENTS:

Boats: 14 or longer – 2 Bulkheads - No Sit Ons
Proper self and assisted rescue equipment
Spray Skirts Required
Water, snacks, sunscreen etc,.

Shuttle: Drop cars in Allenwood Allaire / Uber back to Manasquan
