Punk fans are in for a treat on the August Bank Holiday Sunday as The Defects, one of Belfast’s original punk powerhouses, hit the stage at Toales Live Venue in Dundalk. They’ll be joined by local favourites The Gakk and Fat Rabbit for a night of raw, high-octane live music.

Formed in Belfast in 1978, The Defects were at the heart of the Northern Irish punk explosion, sharing stages with the likes of Stiff Little Fingers and The Outcasts. Their politically charged lyrics and no-frills aggression made them instant icons in a scene defined by resistance and rebellion. Their 1982 album Defective Breakdown remains a landmark release, fusing blistering punk energy with working-class grit.

After a long hiatus, the band reformed in the 2010s and have since reclaimed their place on stages across Europe, Australia, and major festivals like Rebellion. Still as fierce and relevant as ever, The Defects continue to deliver sets packed with classic material and sharp-edged new tracks that resonate with both old-school fans and a new generation of punks.

Joining them are The Gakk, well-known for their snarling vocals and high-energy performances, and Fat Rabbit, bringing their own brand of unfiltered rock and roll punk to the mix. Together, this lineup promises an electric night of music rooted in raw power and authenticity.

Doors open early at 6pm, with the first band on stage at 7pm. Tickets are priced at €10 and available now via Eventbrite. Early arrival is strongly recommended—this is one Bank Holiday show you won’t want to miss.
