Join us for a deep dive into the rich mysteries of woad and Japanese indigo. You’ll learn how to coax extraordinary blues from these plants, and also explore lesser known recipes for surprising pinks, turquoise and gold. We’ll use a classic indigo vat for ‘shibori’ resist dyeing in deepest midnight blues and explore the ‘hapazome’ technique to imprint the leaf on fabric or paper. At the end of the day, you’ll return with a body of beautifully dyed samples on wool and silk and your own shibori-dyed creation.
