A Listening Session Of To Pimp A Butterfly Night 2

This July, we present a very special listening session of, 'To Pimp A Butterfly’, by Kendrick Lamar. This album is a response to a time of intense social and political unrest in the United States, particularly around issues of race, police brutality, and systemic oppression. Drawing from a wide range of musical influences including Jazz, Funk, Soul, and R&B. Lamar crafted a deeply personal and politically charged LP that explores themes of identity, self-worth, depression, and resilience. Including production by Sounwave, Terrace Martin, Taz “Tisa” Arnold, Thundercat, Rahki, Flying Lotus, Pharrell Williams, Boi-1da, Knxwledge & Dr. Dre. Featuring George Clinton, Bilal, Anna Wise, Snoop Dogg, & Ronald Isley. A truly timeless masterpiece, that not much is needed to be said about. This session will be accompanied by live jazz sets from The Don Brown Collective, founded by Don Brown—a professionally trained jazz drummer from Los Angeles. The collective was created to bring musicians together and foster authentic new expression. This event is also in collaboration with Compton Jazz Club, a community organization rooted in Compton, dedicated to celebrating and preserving jazz culture in the historic-Richland Farms neighborhood of Compton. It’s a true blessing to collaborate with this beautiful collective of artists, which inspired this session. Check out their monthly events Moonwater Farm. We hope the message & music can help us unify in times like this.
