Piragua Protest!

Worcester assured residents that all city pools would be open this summer, but Crompton Park remained closed until July 10th.

We are protesting against environmental and racial injustice, standing with neighborhood residents, advocates, and children who deserve access to their water recreation spaces. The city’s neglect of the community is unacceptable, and we are tired of excuses and delays. Just excuses.

1. We demand that all city pools stay open throughout the summer.

2. We insist on the completion and opening of the University Park Water Park, which the City of Worcester has neglected and deprioritized.

3. We demand accountability from City Manager Eric Batista. He needs to resolve this issue and hold those responsible below him accountable.

Call to action:
Call City Manager Eric Batista at City Hall and demand that he provide the community with a reason why the spray park is still unfinished and a timeline for its completion by calling 508-799-1175 or via email, Q2l0eW1hbmFnZXIgfCB3b3JjZXN0ZXJtYSAhIGdvdg==.

Bring your protest signs demanding that the city keep our pools open and finish the Crystal Park spray park for families, to the Crystal Park spray park with neighborhood residents. Have a piragua and show your solidarity.
