local 17-year-old girl, Sarah Politte, who is the most polished, professional musician that I have seen since arriving here in 1999.
She is a jazz singer of all musical styles and her goal in life is to be a professional jazz vocalist.
She has been one of the top 8 high school female vocalists in the state of Missouri for the past 2 years (her junior and senior year). She was recently extended an invitation to attend and study with professionals at the prestigious Nashville Jazz Workshop later this year. Sarah is a jazz vocal phenom.
Later this year, Sarah will be flown to Scotland to shoot and star in a music video that will be a pilot for a new TV show (Sarah is also a model).
Driven to help Sarah get her start, so she and I have formed a duet-type group named, “Lush Life” (a famous ballad that Duke Ellington played at most every concert). She already sings amazingly with Big Bands, but that is only a few times a semester. She needs to be singing often in classy venues with more intimacy to gain experience in a smaller setting.
Sarah provides the vocals and I play jazz keyboards and trumpet/flugelhorn. My resume includes the Temptations, the O'Jay's, the Four Tops, Captain & Tennille, the Box Tops, Ringling Brothers and a Las Vegas show that recreates the Rat Pack of the 60’s and 70’s.
We do jazz standards (the American Songbook of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s), plus we do jazz renditions of classic pop and rock hits from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s (Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, etc.). Our sound is not that of a cover band. We will sound like a small jazz group that you would hear at Jazz at the Bistro in St. Louis.
