Paper Making Workshop

Join Nancy Basket, at FENCE on Saturday, August 2nd from 9am-12pm for a Paper Making workshop. No experience necessary to attend.
During the workshop, Nancy will lead students in creating several sheets of colored paper from kudzu leaves. Pre-dried kudzu paper will also be supplied for students to create their own paper collage. Students should wear old clothes they do not mind getting dye on. Rit Dye is used to color the paper.
There is a $40 fee per person for this workshop, supplies included in the fee. Advanced registration is required for this event. About Nancy: Nancy Basket has coiled and woven vessels for over 40 years since she helped start the first basketry guild in the US in modern times. She uses Pine Needles, Kudzu and other invasive species. Moving South from Washington state in 1989, she has taught in public schools as an artist in education. Nancy makes 8 foot coiled sculptures depicting Cherokee stories, five foot chandeliers and miniatures as big as your thumb nail. Nancyβs 100 year old barn is retrofitted with kudzu bales and is her teaching workshop, where she makes her handmade paper from kudzu leaves in Walhalla, SC.
