Who’s Amber?
Amber Loren Forehand-Hughes is a 38 year old from Portsmouth, VA. She’s married to her high school sweetheart, Donald, and they have a toddler son, she’s lovingly nicknamed “Nanu.” She’s a 20-year federal civil servant, and a graduate from both the College of William and Mary (BS Psychology/English) and Old Dominion University (MSEd Clinical Mental Health Counseling). She loves her family, her pet babies, and most importantly, God. In her spare time she enjoys writing, watching movies & professional wrestling, reading comics, aspiring to be a muscle mommy, dancing with strangers at red lights, absorbing nature, dabbling in photography, and all things laughter.
Oh, yeah… and she has triple positive metastatic (stage 4) breast cancer.
Diagnosed just a couple weeks after her little’s first birthday, Amber’s cancer journey has caused her to dedicate herself to a life worth celebrating.
“AMBERFEST” is just that.
A “Celebration of Life” doesn’t have to just be when a person passes…
She’s giving us permission to celebrate life now, on an annual basis.
…while raising money that could ultimately save her life.
“HELL YEAH, BROTHER!”
Come celebrate with us!
What’s METAvivor?
If you know someone who has died from breast cancer, they died from metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Yet, only 2-5% of money for breast cancer research is dedicated toward understanding metastatic breast cancer, or finding solutions to extend the lives of MBC patients. We need your help to shift the public discussion and prompt action for this disease. Together, we can be the catalyst for change. A diagnosis of MBC is terminal. METAvivor is the only breast cancer related organization in which 100% of their donations received go to breast cancer research and grants.
