Transport: please let us know by Tuesday 5 pm if you need transport to Mt Tomaree so we have time to organise car pooling. We will meet at 9 am Sunday, 20 July, at the Math bus stop on the Callaghan campus of the University of Newcastle. Our first destination will be Tomaree Head carpark. We should be back at the Math bus stop around 5 pm.
What to bring: hat, sunscreen, drinking water, suitable clothes, sturdy shoes, packed lunch or money to buy lunch, and binoculars if you have them (for whale watching purposes).
What to expect: a 2.2 km Grade 5 walk (steep incline) with beautiful views at the top and the potential to see whales. After the walk we will have lunch on the Shoal Bay foreshore. We will conclude the day with the 5 km Grade 3 Shoal Bay to Fingal Bay walking track ( https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/walking-tracks/shoal-bay-fingal-bay-walking-track).
