Are you a community-minded founder, community builder, creative professional, or independent doer looking to secure grant funding for your work? Join us for Funding Your Purpose, a hands-on workshop designed to help you tap into your creativity and strategy to unlock new resources for your mission.

This unique session combines art-making and business-building to make the grant writing process more approachable and empowering.

✨ What to Expect:

📄 Business Activity: From Project Plan to Proposal Got a great idea but not sure how to fund it? Bring your project plan—or even just a seed of an idea—and we’ll walk you through how to translate it into a strong grant proposal. You'll get templates, live coaching, and step-by-step guidance on what funders are really looking for.

🎨 Art Activity: Blackout Poetry We’ll begin with a creative exercise that uses old texts to make new meaning. Blackout poetry is a simple, powerful way to reflect on your purpose—and see grant writing as a form of storytelling and transformation.

🛠️ You’ll leave with:
- A clearer understanding of how grants work
- A draft or outline of a real proposal
- Creative tools to tell your story with confidence
- New connections with fellow community changemakers

🥗 Free food will be provided!

🖍️ All materials included—just bring yourself.

This workshop is designed for small business owners, nonprofit leaders, artists, and social entrepreneurs—especially those working in and for community. Whether you're just starting out or already running a program, this space is for you.

Award-winning grant consultant Melody Hernandez of Root Reach Rise will share insights from her experience securing over $40 million for small and micro-businesses and emerging nonprofits. Ericka Scott of Honey Art Studio will lead participants through a hands-on art activity, using her expertise as a Business Consultant & Instructor and Creative Director to guide creative expression and reflection.

No experience necessary. Just bring your purpose.
