July Pub Theology: Children, Teens and AI

We welcome Kate Barnes (LISW-S), a therapist and counselor specializing in working with children and adolescents, to talk about the challenges and dangers presented by “generative AI”. These are apps that can generate humanlike text, create photorealistic images, produce lifelike audio, and create realistic videos, all of which can influence young people’s perceptions and behaviors. The American Psychiatric Association recently issued a "health crisis" asking stakeholders like parents, guardians, teachers, policymakers, and technology creators (among others) to discuss how generative AI is shaping adolescent development and their understanding of relationships.
