Lampshade Class

This class is an opportunity to create a unique piece of home decor to complement your home and learn new skills!

Using merino and various embellishments you will design and make a piece of flat felt fabric. You will learn how to lay the wool and other fibres and apply wet felting techniques to bond the fibres together. You can choose neutral tones, bright jewel colours, abstract patterns or more pictoral elements to create your unique design.

Using your unique piece of felt fabric you will make your lampshade. This portion of the class will give you a basic understanding of how to make a drum lampshade and equipped with these new skills, you can apply this knowledge to future projects with confidence.

If you have any special yarns, fabric or other material that you'd like to incorporate into your piece, do bring it to class.

Before class consider what colour, pattern and design you would like your shade to have by collecting images, making sketches and notes.
