First Friday at M-AAA Culture Lab: Art of the Wish

If you had a wish for the world, what would it be? In 2017, Marn Jensen and Andy Newcom spent six months traveling the country, talking to dozens of 80- to 100-plus-year-olds, asking that very question. They contacted senior living communities, visited hospices, and connected with caregivers to create artworks embodying each individual’s wish.

The exhibition will be on view to the public for First Fridays in September and October.

The Culture Lab is Mid-America Arts Alliance’s space for exhibitions, presentations, and events at our headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. The Culture Lab allows us to showcase programs in the vibrant Kansas City Crossroads neighborhood and participate in the city’s First Friday celebrations.

Past projects have included music presentations, dance, theatre performance, fine art exhibitions, and humanities projects. Traveling exhibitions from our program ExhibitsUSA frequently launch their tours here.
