Welding Workshop at the Wendell Castle Workshop

Step into the legendary workspace of one of America’s most iconic furniture artists for a truly unforgettable experience. Held in Wendell Castle’s longtime studio—where he designed, built, and once lived with his family—this workshop offers a rare chance to learn in the very place where the master brought his visionary ideas to life.

In this hands-on, full-day class, students will create their own steel flower sculpture, choosing to follow a sample design or bring their own ideas to life. The day begins with an introduction to MIG welding and the properties of mild steel, followed by demos in cold forming, cutting, and shaping techniques.

From sketch to sculpture, participants will be guided through the entire process—cutting, forming, and welding their creations—gaining essential metalworking skills along the way. By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a completed flower sculpture and a new sense of what you’re capable of.

No prior experience is needed. Whether you're a total beginner or have a little welding under your belt, this workshop offers a solid foundation in working with steel—all in a truly inspiring and historic setting.
