Protecting young trees

Our next work party Sunday, 20 July, 9.30am – 12.30pm, will focus on removing tree guards no longer needed and restoring guards to small trees that still need protection. We will be working on the west side of Mt Painter to collect tree guards from the upper slopes and bring them downhill to install on seedlings on the lower slopes.

Meet EITHER for work on the upper slopes: park on Booth Crescent and enter the reserve between houses nos 20 and 22. Follow the dirt road uphill to your right, turn left at the water tanks and go to the meeting point at the gate. OR for work on the lower slopes: park on the city bound side of William Hovell Drive 800m from the intersection with Coulter Drive and walk on to the reserve. Please let us know if you will be joining Tony to collect guards on the upper slopes.

We suggest wearing warm clothes and sturdy footwear and bringing drinking water, some food to share at morning tea and a mug. Coffee and tea and all the equipment needed will be provided.
