Digging Deep- Rediscovering our United Methodist Roots Sermon Series

This August, we’re digging deep—into the Word of God and into the rich heritage of our faith—with a new sermon series titled “Roots.” Just like trees need strong roots for nourishment and stability, we, too, must be rooted in the foundational truths that give life to our faith and purpose to our walk with Christ.

Inspired by the powerful legacy of the Methodist movement, this series will invite us to look back—not to stay in the past, but to draw strength and insight from the Spirit-led traditions that continue to breathe life into our church today. Each week, we’ll reflect on a vital aspect of our spiritual foundation and discover how it helps us grow, serve, and stand strong in today’s world.

Here’s a look at what’s coming:

August 3rd – Roots: Holy Communion
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

We begin by remembering the table that unites us—where Christ meets us with grace, forgiveness, and love.

August 10th – Roots: Baptism
Scripture: Mark 1:4–12

Baptism is more than a ritual—it’s our initiation into Christ’s body and the start of a lifelong journey of discipleship.

August 17th – Roots: Grace
Scripture: Ephesians 2:4–10

Grace is the heartbeat of our faith. This week, we reflect on the amazing gift that saves us and shapes our theology.

August 24th – Roots: Personal & Social Holiness
Scripture: Micah 6:6–8

Holiness isn’t just private; it’s public. God calls us to justice, mercy, and humble living as a witness to His love.

August 31st – Roots: Holy Conferencing
Scripture: Colossians 3:12–17

We conclude by exploring how Christian community, guided by humility and love, helps us grow together in Christ.

This series is an invitation to reflect, remember, and re-root ourselves in the truths that have carried the Church for generations. Whether you’re new to the faith or a lifelong believer, “Roots” will help you see how our past can powerfully shape our present and future.

Let’s journey together this August—growing deeper, stronger, and more grounded in Christ.
