Hotel Saranac, in proud partnership with the Mountaineers Rugby Football Club, hosts a commemorative exhibit honoring the 51-year journey of the Saranac Lake Mountaineers and the Can-Am Rugby Tournament.
Presented in the historic Hotel Saranac Ballroom, this display invites the community and guests to explore the grit, personality, camaraderie, and enduring spirit of Adirondack rugby through artifacts, photographs, and shared stories.
The Can-Am Tournament has grown into one of the largest and most recognized rugby events in North America, the Can-Am Tournament stands as a cornerstone of summer in the Tri-Lakes region. What began in 1974 with just eight teams has evolved into a three-day competition of sport and community, now welcoming over 100 teams, and 3,000 players from nearly all 50 States competing across numerous area pitches. Its impact extends far beyond the field, supporting local businesses, youth programs, and the cultural vitality of the Adirondack Park.
