Teachers' Time Out: Fall Birding Challenge for the Classroom
Advertisement
Ease into the new school year with a morning birding walk in beautiful Germantown MetroPark! After our hike, we will head into the Twin Valley Welcome Center classroom to learn about the MetroParks Birding Challenge for the Classroom, an initiative designed to raise awareness about local birds and engage students in outdoor learning. We will watch and count birds and other wildlife at our Window on Wildlife exhibit. What ideas from our feeding station can you take back to your schoolyard? Make a bag of seed mix and take a bird feeder back to your school. Bring binoculars if you have them; a limited supply will be available. While this program is for educators, teachers are welcome to bring a guest who is not a teacher, so invite your spouse, child or a friend who would enjoy birding with you!
