First Kindergarten Interactive Classroom Dedication

The Watertown Historical Society invites the community to attend the dedication of the new First Kindergarten Interactive Classroom on the grounds of the Octagon House Museum on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025 starting at 2 p.m.
The new Interactive Classroom tells the story of the 1856 founding of the First Kindergarten in America by Margarethe Meyer Schurz in an exciting, modern, and hands-on way.
Complimentary light refreshments will be available following the 2 p.m. dedication and ribbon cutting. Discounted tours of the Octagon House will be offered the day of the event for $5 per person. Tours will start every half hour between 12-3 p.m.
