Professional Learning Workshop with FKCANT and Child Australia

Foster and Kinship Carers Association NT are inviting volunteer DCF foster and kinship carers and FKCANT members for a full-day, practical session with Child Australia. The course will cover the following topics:

- Positive Interactions with Children
Learn how to engage positively with children as they grow and develop, socially and culturally. You’ll explore ways to build secure, respectful, and trusting relationships, and discuss the importance of role modelling, effective language, difference between acknowledgement vs praise.

- Introduction to guiding behaviour through respectful interactions
We’ll look at how feeling valued helps children build confidence and lifelong relationship skills. You’ll reflect on how your own words and experiences shape your interactions, learn to replace unhelpful responses with more constructive ones, and discuss practical strategies for responding to challenging behaviours with empathy.
