Join us at the USAHEC on Wedneday, August 6th for the premiere of the documentary "Gunpowder in Carlisle". Doors open at 6:00PM and the documentary showing begins at 6:30PM. Following the showing, Dr. Krebs will moderate a panel discussion and Q&A session with some of the experts behind the project.

Documentary Summary: Buried beneath one of the oldest military posts in the country is a story that almost slipped through the cracks of history. Gunpowder in Carlisle uncovers the origins of the Hessian Powder Magazine, America’s oldest surviving military powder magazine, built in 1777 at the height of the Revolutionary War. Through expert interviews, archaeological digs, and newly discovered artifacts, the film explores how this structure came to be, likely built by both American craftsmen and Hessian prisoners of war. What begins as a forgotten building becomes a symbol of ingenuity, resilience, and the unexpected bonds formed during a fight for independence.
