Digging Up Dessa

Dessa is a modern girl who is surrounded by mysteries ranging from dinosaur bones to her own personal memories. When 19th-century English paleontologist Mary Anning shows up mysteriously, Dessa learns from her skills and immediately sets to work digging them up! Dessa learns that Mary Anning’s name has been lost to history because of her gender and lack of formal education, and sets out to get her friend the credit she deserves, and on her way, fights for the past, present, and future!

Recommended for all ages - but specifically students aged 8 and up!

WHY SEE THIS SHOW?

Didn’t you want to discover a dinosaur as a kid? Have you fallen in love with the power of natural sciences and want to see how they can blend with the world of theatre? Have you ever wanted to explore the lost historians who helped shape our world in unimagined ways? They say that well-behaved women rarely make history- or destroy museum property on their field trip – but Dessa is here to uncover so much more than ever expected!

WHO IS THIS SHOW FOR?

This show is for anyone who loves a mix of historical with their theatre, like AESOP’S FABLES, for young women who refuse to sit-down when life is not fair like MATILDA, and anyone who has enjoyed our shows that are meant for the young, and the young at heart like any of our previous Theatre For Young Audience productions!
