The Bee Urban Growers Project Field Day
Join Michigan State University's Bee Urban Growers (BUG) Project for a free, outside event dedicated to supporting people, plants, and pollinators! The field day will provide urban farmers, gardeners, and growers of all ages with resources and educational materials to help us grow food in cities with the help of native pollinators. Invited speakers will share tips for identifying and managing native plants and beneficial insects, conserving wildlife in cities, and more. Community partners and local organizations will also table with agricultural resources and other materials!
This family friendly event will include activities like creating a native seed bomb, crop pollinator bingo, a pollination scavenger hunt, and a bumble bee petting zoo! Stick around for the community science bash so you can observe bees in action as they visit flowers while you report your observations to an iNaturalist project "Urban Bees of the Great Lakes Region," which aims to use citizen observations to better support urban bees.
