Centrala Presents: Bégayer, Dzieba & Hedge Priest

BÉGAYER
They originated in the French Alps, if anyone’s asking, but Bégayer are rootless and fancy free, their music a golden quilt of improvisation and intuition on instruments that dance in and out of one another. Rhythm, tone, ritual and drone is conjured by the five members, who augment their Western Europe meets Middle Eastern folk tendencies with heady globs of electronics and circuit bending. Loup Uberto summons demons as a vocalist and as a live band, you can expect Bégayer to create a type of frazzled communal ascension.
SUPPORT FROM:
DZIEBA
'ძიება 5 (search 5), pronounced 'dzieba', is a technological reconstitution of the Georgian polyphonic choral tradition. Using microtonal values derived by Sandro Shar, I retune a synthesiser patch to play through memories of Georgian folk songs. Accompanied by eclectically sequenced samples of Georgian drumming, and unstable live looping, ძიება 4 is an ongoing effort to chart and make tangible the live archive of my heritage.'
HEDGE PRIEST
Hedge Priest plays folk music at 30bpm and 180bpm, nothing in between. This will be a slow one. Recently seen supporting Stick in the Wheel and Goblin Band, this is living traditional folk music which takes its cues from Sunn O))) and TM404 as much as from John Kirkpatrick or Peter Bellamy.
