Artist Talk & Photowalk: Learning to See for Taking Better Photos

Taking better photos starts with the act of seeing. Whether a candid snap, posed portrait, or one of life’s many meaningful moments, a successful image comes together from understanding how to best capture what’s in front of you.

Photographer Derek Fahsbender will be giving a brief artist talk highlighting his process for documenting everyday life in a way that brings beauty to even the simplest of photographs. Following the talk, join us for a stroll through Hell’s Kitchen as we put into practice those same tools and techniques to document one of New York City’s most unique and vastly changing neighborhoods.


Itinerary:
4:30-5pm - Artist Talk “Learning to See for Better Photos”
5-7pm - Photowalk exploring Hell’s Kitchen

Camera gear will not be provided for the event, and is not required to attend. The photowalk will leave promptly at 5pm and proceed along the following route for those who arrive late:

Head north on 9th Ave
Left on 35th St and continue to 11th Ave (make right)
Right on 36th St and continue to 9th Ave (make left)
Left on 37th St and continue to 11th Ave (make right)
Right on 38th St and continue to 9th Ave
